 Do I have the right to choose the shop that will repair my car?
YES. There is no law that says that you must have your car repaired at the "cheapest" shop or the one hand-picked by your insurance company. Select a body shop based on their skill, service, knowledge, reputation and guarantee of their workmanship.
Do I need to get two or three estimates?
NO. Have your car towed to the shop of your choice then phone your insurance company and advise them of your vehicle's location. Let your body shop go over the damage with your insurance company's representative.
Some insurance agents may tell you to "get two or three estimates." Talk to the insurance claims office first. Generally claims are handled by insurance claims departments, not agents.
Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include necessary repairs. If you choose to obtain estimates and are unable to tell the differences between them, please ask us. We'll show you the differences in black and white, and explain how it relates to the repair quality.
Do not get an estimate from a shop you would not want to repair your vehicle.

NOT TRUE... It takes an experienced professional to return a vehicle to pre-accident condition. If your vehicle has been in a collision, you'll want to be certain that all damaged crash parts get replaced with original equipment.
